RACING AT CHRISTCHURCH. VAN PRAAG CREATES RECORD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The broadsiding meeting at Monica Park last night was very, successful: Lionel Van Praag, who rode splendidly, beat Taylor’s record for two laps, clutch start, in 40 l-ss, reducing the time by 1 3-ss. Results are:—. A grade handicap final: Van Praag (scr) 1, J. Roscoe (4s) 2, W. Dumpleten (6s) 3. Time, lm 25 3-ss. A grade consolation race: W. Churchill (8s) 1, R. Dixon (3s) 2, C. Perabo (scr) 3. Time, lm 36 l-ss. Experts’ match races, three laps, rolling start:—First race: J. Hobson beat C. Perabo; time lm 1 l-ss. The second race between Van Praag and Perabo was called off when Perabo fell in the first lap and damaged his machine. Third race: Van Praag beat Hobson; time lm 1 3-ss.
