Excellent Organisation.

For weeks past the surf association executive at New Plymouth, in close collaboration with the New Zealand council at Wellington, has -been perfecting details, even to the extent of making the Taranaki championship meeting at Opunake a full dress rehearsal of the organisation. Taranaki does not often have an opportunity of showing how it can cope with the best of the Dominion in important sporting circles, and this time it has grasped an important opportunity with both hands. The very best of the Dominion’s swimmers will be . at New Plymouth, and although in sheer swimming speed they may be superior, in efficiency and enthusiasm there is nb district in New Zealandi that can touch Taranaki’s average. The swimming carnival on Saturday night will be: the most important ever held in Taranaki, and the best swimmers of Dunedin, Wellington, Wanganui and Taranaki will be in competition.

Flannagan Cup. When the excitement of the surf championships dies down it will be high time to consider the arrangements for the Flannagan Cup, scheduled for Saturday week. The long-distance event has been rather lost sight of. It is expected entries will be received from swimmers outside Taranaki this, year, and the Taranaki men should be at peak form.
