A request for a restoration of the 10 per <;ent reduction in coal miners' wages was made by the delegates on the National Council of United Mine Workers of New Zealand at a conference held with representatives of the Coal Mine Owners’ Association at Wellington this week. In the course of a full discussion the owners’ representatives referred to the continued depressed conditions in the industry and to losses made by a great’ number of companies during the past year. The owners suggested that unions should allow the question of a new agreement to stand over for six months from March 1.
