CAR LEAVES ROAD
MAN AND HIS WIFE INJURED. SITE OF KIDSTON ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A small saloon motor-car travelling from Hamilton to Auckland left the road and plunged down a bank near Mercer. The driver, David Weston McIntosh, aged 43, Auckland, suffered severe head injuries and his wife, who was a passenger, received a broken arm, injuries to the face and shock. The accident occurred at a bend a mile north of Mercer at the spot where SubLieutenant Kidston and PaymasterLieutenant Bennett were seriously injured last December when the sports car in which they were riding ran off the road.
Mr. Mclntosh was returning to Auckland after a business trip. His car careered down the bank into a clump of willows to be smashed to matchwood. Mr. Mclntosh was knocked unconscious.
Although in considerable pain from her injuries Mrs. Mclntosh was able to clamber back on to the road and attract the attention of a motorist. Both were brought to the Auckland hospital. Mr. Mclntosh’s condition is serious.
