THRILL OF DOG TRIALS
PUNGAREHU THIS WEEK. The Pungarehu dog trials will be held on Friday and Saturday next on both sheep and cattle amidst most pleasant surroundings. New Zealand stock dogs and sheep dogs are second to none in the world," and many of the workers of the dogs are men possessing a thoroughIvssound and scientific understanding of classes of stock handling. Such ism know every move and trick necessary to outwit' unruly sheep, or . cattle and how to handle such stock in a scientific and practical manner. The fact alone of seeing such expert men and dogs in action is of splendid educational value to young farmers and stockmen It is a case of the man and the dog ’combining their ability against that of the wily sheep. No cruelty .or harshness of any description is allowed on the trial grounds, where every competitor has an equal chance.
