The House of Lords, with Lords Russell, Tomlin and MacMillan adjudicating, dismissed with costs the appeal of British Calanese, Ltd., from a decision of the Court of Appeal and Mr. Justice Clauson in favour of Courtaulds, Ltd., regarding infringement of patents relating to the manufacture of artificial silks. The case began on November 1, 1932, and altogether occupied 71 days, of which 35 were in Chancery, 17 in the Court of Appeal and 19 in the House of Lords. It is estimated that the cost of the case was £BO,OOO.
