WILL IT BE WINNING MARCH ?

MARCH ALONE IMPRESSIVE

Judging on Iris two impressive New Plymouth wins it looks as if the New Plymouth sportsman Mr. Jack Somerton with March Alone has a hurdler likely to make a name for himself. All the racing world knows that Illuminate is much above the average as a hurdler, but March Alone was not troubled decisively to beat Mr. Addie Lile’s hurdler in both outings at New Plymouth. In his performances on the flat March Alone occasionally showed a lot of promise, but as a general rule he was disappointing. However, it looks as if the March Alone gelding has found his forte at hurdling, and it would not surprise form followers were he to run very prominently in the Ohawe Hurdles at Hawera to-day.

The defections of Tudor and Sir Spear appear to have removed dangerous opposition, so that going on late form March Alone will have many friends.

The “iron horse” from the north, Alloy, will be a most interesting hurdles novice if he takes his place in the Ohawe Hurdles. About this time of the year Alloy usually commences a winning run, and he is the type that may do well over the sticks.

Headland has one or two placed performances to his credit, while on New Plymouth running Gowanlea may not be without reasonable prospects.
