KAPUNI BOWLER’S FEAT BENNETT AND SUTTON TROPHY. DEFEAT OF MATAPU CLUB. Kapuni played Matapu at cricket on Mr. R. E. Harrison’s property during the week-end, Kapuni winning by two runs • on the first innings. Kapuni scored 38, Ashley Burke (18) being top scorer. W. Murphy, with eight wickets for 7 runs, had the Kapuni batsmen in trouble. Matapu failed by two runs to pass its opponent’s score, J. Preece (11) being ths only player to reach double figures. A. J. PUKENGAHU CRICKET. / t SKINNER PLAYS WINGROVE. 1 The Skinner Road cricket team played a friendly match with the Wingrove Road (Pukengahu) eleven during the week-end. Skinner Road batted first and compiled 38 runs, J. Fleming (12) making the highest individual score. In this innings D. Jones, the best bowler, took six wickets for 18 rums. In the first innings Wingrove made 33 runs. The best batsmen were E. Harper and S. Tonks, who made nine and eight respectively. Bowling for Skinner Road, E. Hunter took seven wickets for 13 runs. Skinner Road in the second innings declared with a score of 37 for seven wickets. The best scores in this innings were those of Harm (10) and E. Hunter (11). Bowling for Wingrove, D. Jones took six wickets for 6 runs and performed the hat trick. Wingrove’s second innings was unfinished when play closed, five wickets being down for 22 runs, D. Baker (14 not out) being the best batsman. E. Hunter, who took three wickets for five runs, was the best bowler. MEREMERE’S CRICKET WIN. MANUTAHI EASILY DEFEATED. In a match for the Goodwin Cup Meremere defeated Manutahi by a substantial margin. The Meremere bowlers were on form and seemed to be unplayable in the first innings, J. Galyer taking seven wickets for five runs, and in the second R. Galyer took five for 2, including the hat trick. For Manutahi J.
