TATARAIMAKA PICNIC

SUNDAY SCHOOL GATHERING. PERSONAL AND GENERAL NEWS. The Puniho and, Tataraimaka Sunday schools combined to hold their annual picnic which this year took place on Mrs. Aish’s property, Upper Pitone Road. About 50 children with their parents and friends attended and an enjoyable time was spent in games etc. The children ran races in the afternoon. A lolly scramble, in which the bags of sweets had to be snatched from a fleeing “lollycoated” man, proved so popular that it was repeated. Lunch was provided by the Sunday school organisers, after which the children sang a hymn and Mr Cairns, Auckland, delivered a short address. A young kowhai tree in a Tataraimaka garden is being attacked by a species of caterpillar which quickly destroys the foliage. Little Denis Fabish, who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis, is still in the New Plymouth hospital. Mrs. W. Young recently returned from a visit to PutarurU. Miss Joy Young is on holiday at Stratford. _ ■ Missps Eunice and June Honeyfield spent part of their holidays as the guest of Mrs. G. Mills, Palmerston North. Miss Eleanor Gray has arrived -at Tataraimaka to take up her duties as assistant at the school.
