The winner created an Australian record. 220 yards: Yates (Australia) 1, Hampson (Australia) 2, McFarlane (New Zealand) 3. Won by two yards,_ with two yards between second and third. High jump: Metcalfe (Australia) oft 4Jin 1, Perasalo (Finland) 6ft 3Jin 2, Place (Australia) 3, Crowe (New Zealand) 4. - 400 metres: Frances (Australia) 1, Rampling (Britain) 2, Broadway (New Zealand) 3. Won by 1| yards, with a yard between second and third. Time, 49Js, an Australian record. 110 metres hurdles: McLardy (Australia) 1, Stenner (Australia) 2, Jenkins (Australia) 3, Sharpley (New Zealand) 4. Won by two yards, with a yard between second and third. Time, 14 4-ss, an Australian record. 3000 metres: Matthews (New Zealand) 1, Colman (Australia) 2, Craske (Britain) 3, Barwick (Australia) 4, McLachlan (New Zealand) 5. Won by 15 yards, with 10 yards between second and third. Time, 8m 42 7-10 s. This was a new race for Australia. In the first round Craske held the lead, but in the second round the New Zealanders took charge. Matthews leading from McLachlan and Craske. Colman moved up towards the finish. Colman is the Australian one mile and three miles champion. Javelin throw: Sippala (Finland) 217 ft 1. Shlels (Australia) 163 ft 3Jin 2. Perasalo (Finland) 159 ft 9in 3.
