POLITICAL ACTIVITY
COMMONS REASSEMBLES CONTENTIOUS MEASURES QUESTION OF ELECTION DECISION IN JULY NEXT By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 11.50 p.m. London, Jan. 28. Six months of intensive political activity will begin to-day with the reassembly of the House of Commons. Apart from the Budget there will be several highly debatable Bills, including the Indian Constitution, Housing, Unemployment, Insurance for Agriculturists and Meat Quotas in connection with the cattle industry. These matters must be considered before July, when the Government will decide whether a general election is desirable in the autumn or whether it will defer an appeal to the country till 1936.
The Government is anxious to secure an informal arrangement with the various sections of the Opposition with a view to a fair allocation of time for the various debates, but if obstruction is likely the Government has decided to exercise a most rigorous guillotine.
