Six Japanese boarded the Toa Maru, 3000 tons, which was towed to Hongkong by a Chinese steamei which found her adrift in China waters with nobody aboard, and claimed her as a prize. The vessel was recently purchased by Japanese interests at Amoy, and was being towed to Japan when it broke adrift. The Japanese remained aboard for eight hours, wh' 1 ’ the British officer who had been placed in charge of the vessel ordered th » whole lot off. The Japanese then went ashore. It is believed that tt.t ownership of the vessel will be disputed in the courts.
