KISCH CONVICTED
FOUND PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT. SENTENCE DEFERRED TILL TO-DAY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.35 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 21. Egon Kisch was convicted of being a prohibited immigrant. Sentence was deferred until to-morrow. Following Kisch’s conviction, application was made to Mr. Justice Evatt in the High Court for a rule nisi restraining the magistrate- from proceeding further. His Honour declined to deal with the application until the completion of Police Court proceedings to-mor-row. His Honour, however, granted a rule nisi calling upon the proprietors and editor of the Sydney Morning Herald to show cause why they should not be committed for contempt of Court, respecting the publication of matter tending to prejudice Kisch at the recent Police Court proceedings. Argument on this matter was adjourned till January 29 owing to absence of the Herald’s leading counsel,
