HUNTING’S HIGH COST

£2OOO A DAY FOR BIGGER PACKS. RESIGNATION OF MANY MASTERS. By Telegraph—Prfess Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 20. The high cost of fox hunting is believed to be responsible for- the large number of resignations of hunt masters. Mr. Reginald Wright and Lord Inchcape are resigning the joint mastership of the South Atherstone hunt. “It costs £2OOO daily to hunt some of the bigger packs, which if out three times a week mean an expenditure of £6000,” Mr. Wright told the Daily- Express. “Generally the master receives a guarantee of a certain sum from subscribers, but in some of the ‘smarter hunts, like Fernie, there is no guarantee, consequently tho cost falls largely on the masters, who bear most of the cost of taking down and repairing fences and meeting poultry farmers’ claims.”
