Wellington and certain other centres in thp Dominion are to have a visit this season from a team of four. British athletes accompanied: by a manager and two renowned Finnish performers. Fbr some time past the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has been negotiating with the Victoria Amateur Athletic Association, which is bringing the athletes to Melbourne to compete in the centenary games there this month, with a view to arrangements being made for them to come to New Zealand at the conclusion of their Australian engagements. The proposals at first advanced by the Victorian authorities were not regarded favourably in New Zealand and prospects of the tour eventuating appeared none too bright. This week, however, a fresh proposition was cabled from Victoria and it was announced yesterday by the chairman of the New Zealand Council, Mr. Austad, and the secretary of the association, Mr. L. A. Tracy, that new terms had been accepted by the British team and two Finns to arrive at Wellington by the Wanganella on February 11 in company with the New Zealand team which will be returning from the centenary games.
