MORON SHIELD COMPETITION. PUNGAREHU DEFEATS OAONUI. In a second, round tennis match for the Moron Shield Pungarehu defeated Oaonui B at Pungarehu by 13 sets 118 games to 3 sets 68 games. Scores are as follows, Pungarehu players being mentioned first:— Women’s singles: Miss Brophy defeated Miss H. Mitchell 7—4, Miss Gray defeated Miss Q. Coombe 7—5, Miss Gilhooley lost to Miss M. Roach 4 —7, Miss Brophy defeated Miss F. Mitchell 7—2. Men’s singles: Brophy lost to M. Tioko B—9, Roots defeated T. Tioko 9—4, Beardmore defeated Bishop 9-2, Kira defeated Leatherbarrow 9—3. Men’s doubles: Brophy and Roots defeated M. and T. Tioko 9—5, Beardmore and Kira defeated Bishop and Leatherbarrow 9—2. Women’s doubles: Misses Brophy and Gray defeated Misses H. Mitchell and Q.
