When Gwen had ushered Nellie into the room and placed her in the arm chair with a cushion, things began to go wrong. Gwen made such a fuss that she began to badger poor Richard until he did not know what to do. “Now don’t be clumsy,” cried Gwen. “Pour Nellie out a cup of tea and mind you don’t spill it.” ___________

Perhaps, however, everything would have been all right if Gwen had not provided fish sandwiches for tea. Richard had managed to pour out a nice cup of tea, but he held it for Nellie to take just as Gwen offered her a fish sandwch. “l’ love fish,” cried Nellie, leaning forward just as Richard said politely, "Allow me.” ~ Nellie turned quickly to take the tea and—the accident happened I

Nellie knocked the cup over and got a warm bath. Actually, nobody was really to blame, but Gwen is still blaming Richard. For Nellie was awfully annoyed, and vowed that she would never come into the house again. Richard, of course, said “And a good thing, too.” Gwen, however, is not of that way of thinking. Perhaps it will all blow over, though, and they will be friends again. We shall see.
