HAWERA PIPER WINS
TE AROHA HIGHLAND SPORTS. MISS DOREEN NAIRN’S DANCING.
At the Te Aroha Highland sports held at Te Aroha on New Year’s Day, Miss Doreen Nairn succeeded in winning the points prize for the second year in succession. Considerable success was also obtained by Stewart Naim and lan Campbell. The following are the results:— Miss Doreen Naim, first sean triubhas, second sword dance, Highland fling, horn pipe, Highland reel, third Irish jig (all open classes). Stewart Naim competed in the maiden march piping and the maiden strathspey and reel, winning the march and tieing for first place in the latter. He also competed in two dances, the hornpipe and jig (open), winning the jig and gaining third place in the hornpipe. lan Campbell was successful in winning the B grade march piping and strathspey and reel.
