The death of Mr. William Adam King, proprietor of the Polynesian Gazette, has occurred at the age of 83 years, says a Suva cable.
The Rev. Hill-Johnson, vicar of Helensville, with Mrs. Hill-Johnson and family, are spending a holiday at the Belt Road camp.
Mr. Alastair A. McGibbon, Christchurch, a third-year medical student at Edinburgh University, will captain the university tennis team next season. Recently he took part in a number of Scottish tournaments.
Nurse F. W. Cartwright, of the New Plymouth Plunket Society, has left on holiday for the Urewera and Rotorua. She will return on January 25, her position in the meantime being taken by Nurse Perrin, formerly attached to the New Plymouth hospital. Professor J. C. Sperrin-Johnson, formerly professor of biology, Auckland University College, has leased Blackrock Castle from the Cork Corporation for his private residence. This was once a lighthouse. Professor Sperrin-Johnson has occupied the chair of botany at the Cork University College since his return from New Zealand.
The death has occurred of Mr. Peter Graham, aged 77, a well-known building contractor, says a Christchurch Press Association message. He was a native of Dumbartonshire and was in business first at Melbourne and then at Christchurch. His firm built many city buildings and he was president of the Canterbury Builders and Contractors’ Association for various periods, and was one of the original members of the New Zealand Builders’ Association. His son, Mr. J. W. Graham, is the present head of the firm.
