HEAVY FALLS IN PLACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be unsettled, dxill and misty, with further rain in most districts and some heavy falls, says the 4 p.m. forecast. Thunder is probable in places, with temperatures becoming cooler. An extensive depression now covers the New Zealand area, its centre to-day lying across the southern portion of the South Island. Northerly to westerly winds are probable north of Westport and Akaroa, moderate to strong and in places reaching gale force. Elsewhere winds will be moderate and variable at first, but southerlies will soon set in and later extend temporarily northwards. Seas will be rather rough to rough generally.
