Perry (Britain) deefated E. J. Mahoney 6—3, 6 —4, 6—2. Women’s Singles. Miss Lyle (England) defeated Miss Stevenson (Australia), 6—o, 6—o. Miss Dearman (England) defeated Miss Harry (Australia), 6—l, 6—2. Combined Doubles. Perry and Miss Round (England) defeated Grinstead and Mrs. Molesworth (Australia) 6—3, 6—3. Kirby (South Africa) and Mrs. Bond (Tasmania) defeated Derham and Mis. Richardson (Australia). 6—3, 6—4. Men’s Doubles. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) and Moon (Australia) defeated Knight (Australia) and Robertson (United States), 6—2, 6—2, Crawford and McGrath (Australia) defeated Tonkin and Purcell (Australia) B—6, 6—’2, 6—2. Boussus and Brugnon defeated Vroland and Ryan (Australia) 6—l, 6—3, B—6. Malcolm and Kirby (South Africa) defeated J. Grinstead and R. O. Cummings (Australia) 6—l, 13—11, I—6,1 —6, 9 —7. Maier (Spain) and Hopman (Australia) defeated J. Harper and D. K. Fitchett (Australia) B—6, 6—l, 3—6, 9 —7. Ewin (Australia) and Stefani (Italy) defeated Clemenger and Kay (Australia) 6—3, 1—45, 4—6, 6—3, 6 —4. Robertson, nominated by the Los Angeles Lawn Tennis Association, was disappointing. Hughes had only to keep the ball in play and wait for Robertson’s errors. The French Davis Cup players, Brugnon and Boussus, made an impressive first appearance, though the home pair put up a good fight. The Frenchmen’s returns of service were too good. The South Africans, Kirby and Malcolm, were thoroughly extended by the Queensland pair.
