AUCKLAND’S FRONT DOOR NO FORTUNE WITH HIS FISHING. VISIT TO A PICTURE THEATRE. LEAVES FOR HAMILTON TO-DAY. ■ By Telegraph-Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Although the Duke of Gloucester’s entry to Auckland Was through its “back door,” to-day His Highness had the opportunity of passing through its “front door” as the result of a launch cruise hi portion of the harbour. With the Royal party aboard Sir Cecil Leys’ launch, Rongo, anchored off Rangitoto for a picnic luncheon. The Duke and members of his suite had their lines out off the Rangitoto beacon in quest of schpapper, the fish on this occasion not biting. There was a fair sea running in the harbour but .the waiter was calm under the shelter of Auckland's rocky sentinel. Accompanied by Lord and Lady Bledisloe, the Duke to-night attended the talkies for the first time since his arrival. He saw the screening of “The Count of ' Monte Cristo” at a local theatre which was crowded to capacity. He leaves Auckland at 10.45 a.m. for Hamilton on his way to Chateau Tongariro, where he is due at 10.50 p.m. on Saturday. He spends Sunday at the Chateau and on Monday leaves by road for Mr. T. A. Duncan’s estate at Huntervillb, where he will have the opportunity of examining the thoroughbred stock and seeing extensive shearing operations in progress. On Tuesday he attends the Marton races and spends the night at Mr. Duncan’s home. He is expected to be present also at the second day of the races. At 9 p.m. on Wednesday he riejoins the Royal train at Hunterville and is due at Ohakune two and a-half hours later. The original programme will then be resumed, the Royal train being scheduled to reach New Plymouth •at 9.45 a.m. on Thursday.
