Anxiety regarding the safety of Wuhu and other important centres along the Yangtse following Communist depredations in Southern Anhwei are now dispelled. Supported By aeroplanes Government troops reported they had successfully driven the biggest Communist force, consisting of 50,000 men, towards "the mountainous regions, removing the immediate threat to Wuhu.
