IRISH FREE STATE

recent encatments invalid. CHIEF JUSTICE EXPRESSES VIEWS. London, Dec. 20. The Chief Justice of the Irish Free State, Mr. Justice Kennedy,, whose judgment was overruled by two other members of the Appeal Court, held yesterday that all amendments of the Free State constitution since 1930 were null and void, because they had never been submitted to the people. Parliament, the chief justice declared, had not the right to amend the constitution. In his view, consequently, the re moval of the oath of allegiance to the King and the abolition of the right of appeal to the Privy Council were invalid acts of the Parliament.
