Miss V. Telfor, Wellington, is visiting Mrs. W. W. Kay at Hawera.

Mrs. Hugh McWilliam and family left last week for Te Awamutu and Tauranga.

Mrs. J. B. Rowe and family are spending the school vacation with her mother, Mrs. Bell, at Raetihi.

Mrs. G. W. Powdrell and family left last Saturday to spend a few weeks with Mrs. Powdrell’s mother, Mrs. Vaughan, at Hastings.

Mrs. A. M. Winks and Miss Joy Winks are spending a week or two at Kawhia with Mrs. H. Raine, and intend visiting Auckland friends later on.

Miss Dorothea Monaghan, Auckland, arrived at Hawera on Wednesday morning to be bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding during the week. Miss Winifred Huggins is spending a fortnight at New Plymouth, where she is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Maxwell, Barrett Road.

Mrs. B. C. Bennett and Miss C. Reilly leave during the week for Auckland, where they will attend the British Drama League’s school of drama week. Mrs. H. M. Caselberg and family have taken a cottage at Ohawe for a few weeks.

Mrs. E. A. Pacey went to New Plymouth on Thursday for a week or two. Mrs. A. F. Excell and her two children left last week-end to spend several weeks’ holiday at Gisborne. Miss May Burgess leaves to-morrow to spend the summer school vacation at Auckland. During her visit she will attend the drama week being held there.

Mrs. A. J. Corrigan and family are holiday-making at Ohawe beach for a fortnight.

Mrs. W. McL’Dowie is visiting friends st Foxton beach.

Mrs. C. O. Pratt and family have left on a camping tour of the Hawke’s Bay district.

Mrs. E. R. Bavin is camping at Kau■pokonui beach for a week or two. Mrs. C. O. Bell and family, Miramar, Wellington, are Mrs. T. F. McKenzie’s guests.

Miss Mary Quin is a visitor to Auckland to attend the week’s drama school.

Mrs. D. G. Smart and her sons are spending the vacation at their Ohawe beach cottage.

Miss G. Pickett is spending a fortnight with friends at Napier.

Miss F. Langdon is visiting friends in the Manawatu district.

Mrs. Espagne, who has been visiting Mrs. G. S. Pickett, returned to Dannevirke on Thursday. Mrs. Pickett and Miss Pickett accompanied them on their return, and will spend a week or two in Dannevirke.

Migs M. Nicholson, Auckland, is staying with her aunt, Mrs. H. R. Kemp. Miss Rhea Furrie, Stratford, is Miss Sheila Lovell’s guest for the Hawera tennis tournament.

Mrs. P. O. Veale and family left last week-end for a camping holiday at a Coromandel beach resort.

Miss Mickey Hawken is staying with Miss Anne Bright.

Mrs. J. Valentine (Eltham) is staying with her mother, Mrs. Powdrell. Miss Ina Haybittie and Miss Molly Hurrell left yesterday on a holiday visit to Napier, where they will be Mrs. S. C. Haybittie’s guests.

Miss Cushla Tonks, who has been visiting Hamilton and Auckland, returned home yesterday.

Mrs. Exley and the Misses Exley and Mrs. Batten are on a month’s camping holiday at Waipawa. Miss Johnson, and Miss W. Johnson, Grey Street, are joining them for a fortnight. Mrs. W. A. Spragg is camping at Lake Taupo.

Misses Jessie and Margaret Alexander, Waverley, are staying with Mrs. H. T. Lovell.

Miss Molly Dickie, Waverley, has been Miss Peggy Wylds’ guest for the tennis tournament;

Mrs. Stephen Gibson is spending the holidays on the shores of Lake Taupo. Mrs. R. G. Bell, Feilding,, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. T. F. McKenzie. Mrs. Gordon Irvine, Wanganui, was the guest of Mrs. Irvine’s mother, Mrs. D. M. Cameron, Okaiawa, for Christmas. Miss Ruth Sheat, who is on the teaching staff at the Nelson Girls’ College, and Miss Alice Sheat, New Plymouth, are spending the vacation with their parents at Beach Road. Mrs. Gordon, Wanganui, is Mrs. W. J. Bright’s guest. Mrs. H. Blyth, Wanganui, is visiting relatives at Hawera.

Mrs. P. Moyes, Oeo, was staying with her parents at Okaiawa for Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Jones are visiting Te Kuiti for the New Year. Mrs. B. Huse, New Plymouth, is spending Christmas and New Year with her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Ryan, Ramanui. Mrs. Alan Gollaugher, Auckland, and her three children arrive to spend a few days with Mrs. Gollaugher’s sister, Mrs. A. F. Beck, at the New Year, later going on to Waverley. Mrs. Milton Bailey and family, Auckland, are spending the Christmas and New Year holidays with Mrs. Bailey’s mother, Mrs. W. R. Butler, Disraeli Street.

During the week the Hawera Croquet Club’s competitions were won by Mrs. J. Ekdahl, who gave the doll (presented by Mrs. Fletcher) its correct name “Priscilla,” and Miss \Dolly Johnstone, who won the cake.

At the Hawera Park Croquet Club’s competition day last Friday the three following pairs tied for the A and B silver buttons: Mesdames W. R. Shaw and Jackson, Miss Tait and Mrs. Horton, and Mesdames Crutch and Barnett, the latter pair winning the draw.

Among those visiting Hawera for the tenffis tournament are Mrs. New (Palmerston North). Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Nichol and Misses Gibbs (2) (Patea), Amy and Phoebe Graham (Waverley), Pamela and J. Betts (Masterton), P. Fountaine (Eltham), Ruth Dailey (Hawke’s Bay), Lindsay Hunter/Wanganui), A. and B. Marsh (Ararata), Reid, Knuckey (Stratford), G. Williams (Arafata) and Judith Blythe (Wanganui).
