Results on the first two days are: Perham defeated Barnett (New Zealand), 6—l, 4—6, 6 —2. / Boone defeated Young (New Zealand), 6—4, 6—o. McCarthy (New Zealand) defeated Jones, 6—3, 7—5. Barrer (New Zealand) defeated Lawton, 6 —3, B—6.8 —6. Barnett and Barrer (New Zealand) defeated Boone and Jones, B—6,8 —6, 6 —o. Lawton and Derham (Melbourne) defeated Young and McCarthy, 6—4, 6—3. Boone (Melbourne) defeated McCarthy 6—3, 3-6, 7—5. Derham (Melbourne) defeated Barrer 6-4, 6-3. Barnett (New Zealand) defeated Lawton 6—l, 6—3. Jones (Melbourne) defeated Young 6—3, 6—l. Totals: Melbourne, 7 rubbers, 14 sets, 129 games; New Zealand, 5 rubbers, 12 sets, 120 games. Although one set behind after the singles on Wednesday the Melbourne players dominated td-day, winning the series by two rubbers. The courts were heavy. The most exciting match of the singles was between Boon and McCarthy.
