MATCH AGAINST AUCKLAND. BATTING NOT INSPIRING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Considering that the conditions were ideal for run-getting, the batting in. the two-days’ cricket match between Auckland and Wellington, which opened at the Basin Reserve this afternoon, was uninspiring. Play started at 1 p.m., and during the afternoon 12 wickets fell for 288 runs. E. D. Blundell, who was leading the Wellington team for the first time, beat H. G. Vivian for the spin of the coin, and the Wellington eleven ' had first strike on a firm wicket and a fast outfield. R. G. Bush and D. R. Garrard stood out of the northern team.
