BATHERS AT FITZROY

RESCUED FROM UNDERTOW. FOUR GIRLS NEED ASSISTANCE. Caught by a current at Fitzroy beach late yesterday afternoon, four girls required the assistance of surf club members to reach shore safely. . . The girls were involved in a steady backwash with the tide well out and found difficulty in getting to shore. An alarm was raised and surf club mem"' bers took out the reel and line. The “rescue” was not a very serious task, however, and apart from a fright little harm was done. The turn of the tide is a time when care is needed at most beaches. As it has been spring tide, the breakers at Fitzroy have been strong lately, and this probably caused the current that caught the bathers unaware.
