Misses Hazel and Phyllis York, Duthie Road, left last evening to spend a few weeks at Auckland.

Mrs. L. B. Lewis and family leave today for Tauranga, where they are camping for a few weeks. Miss G. Lendrum leaves to-day for Dunedin, where she will be the guest of her sister, Mrs. Brown.

Mrs. J. W. Ogle is leaving at the week-end to camp at Kaupokonui beach for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. H. G .Whitehead left yesterday to spend the vacation at Maynganui and in the North Auckland district.

Mrs. T. R. Overton has her sister, Miss Carson, Dunedin, staying with her. Mrs .Stonewigg, Winchester, arrived during the week to spend about six weeks with her mother, Mrs. S. B. Howlett.

Miss Cushla Tonks left yesterday for Hamilton to visit her aunt, Mrs. Tudhope. She will go on to Auckland later.

Mrs. O. K. Tennent and Miss Margaret Tennent leave to-day to spend a few weeks at the Paekakariki beach. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mackenzie, Khandallah, Wellington, paid a short visit to Hawera during the week on their return from Helensville.

Miss Molly Washer returned from Stratford on Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Adamson left yesterday on a fortnight’s visit to Auckland. Mrs. Sutton and Miss M. Sutton left yesterday to spend Christmas and New Year with Mrs. R. MacDonald, Ashhurst.

Miss Ngaire Whyte leaves to-day to spend a fortnight with friends at Morrinsville and Auckland.

Mrs. N. F. Stead and her small son motor up to Auckland to-day, where she will be the guest of her mother, Mrs. Gourley, at Devonport for several weeks. Miss M. Thomson arrived from Wellington during the week to spend the vacation with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Bramwell leave during' the week-end for Wellington. Mrs. C. Stewart is spending Christmas with her mother, Mrs. Ashton, at New Plymouth. Mrs. T. J. Allan, who has been visiting friends in North Taranaki, has returned to Hawera.

Mrs. H. T. Underhill and her two daughters arrive from Wellington today and will be the guests qf Mrs. Underhill’s mother, Mrs. Walter Syme, for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Guy intend camping at Kawhia for a few weeks during the holidays. Mrs. E. H. Evans and Miss Joyce Evans leave for Tauranga on Monday. Mrs. G. H. Ryan and Miss B. Ryan are motoring to Auckland during the week-end, and will be away about three weeks.

Miss L. Miller, Christchurch, arrives early next week and will be the guest of her sister. Mrs. L. A. Ablett. Mrs. S. Haybittie, Napier, arrives on Monday to stay with Mrs. R. S. Haybittle.

Mrs. G. Smith and her daughter were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Smith for the Smith-Davis wedding on Wednesday and will stay till the New Year. Mrs. J. A. Duffill and family are spending the school vacation at their cottage at Ohawe beach.

Mrs. W. Jobson and her guests, Dr. and Mrs. E. Jobson, Nairobi, Kenya Colony, have taken a cottage at Tauranga for the holidays. Mrs. N. Douglas, Stratford, is spending Christmas week at “Brent Knoll” with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Washer.

Miss S. Pickett left yesterday to spend a week or two at Waverley prior to going to friends at Hamilton.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Gosnell leave to-day to visit relatives at Feilding. Mesdames W. Kay, E. McLean and J. H. Anderson and Misses O. Kay and J. McLean motored to New Plymouth on Wednesday for the visit of the British golfers. Mrs. Thompson, Gisborne, and Miss Steele, who have been staying with Mrs. J. Thompson, Egmont Street, left early in the week on their return to Poverty Bay. Mrs. J. Thompson accompanied them and will stay a few weeks at Gisborne.

Mrs. B. McCarthy left yesterday for Wellington, where she will attend several farewell functions for her son, who is leaving Wellington to take up a position in his father’s office. Mrs. R. S. Ward will be staying at New Plymouth over Christmas, and after attending the Ward-Clarke wedding on Boxing Day will go to Auckland for a week or two.

Several families have joined forces and leave shortly for the Awakino beach on a camping holiday on a thoroughly organised plan. They are Mr. and Mrs. R. Leece and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Trotter and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. North and family, Mrs. A. M. Young and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Fyson and family and Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Bayley and family. At Mrs. N. Douglas’ invitation a number of her Hawera friends motored to Stratford on Tuesday afternoon, when they were entertained at tea, Mrs. Douglas wearing a willow green georgette frock with pale lavender sash. Misses M. Washer, B. Ryan, S. Lovell, A. Kemp, M. Black, K. Coleman, M. Hawken, R. Pease, C. Tonks, P. Lovell and G. Goodson were the guests.

Mrs. J. W. Ogle was hostess at bridge on Thursday for Mrs. R. D. Speer, who is leaving Hawera. Mesdames R. J. O’Dea, N. F. Stead, R. A. Harvey, R. B. Gosnell, H. Jenkins, Speer and J. B. Lewis were the players, and Mrs. Speer won the highest score.
