REARING OF CALVES
NORTH TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIP. ARRANGEMENT OF PROGRAMME. The programme for the North Taranaki calf-rearing championships to be conducted by the Boys and Girls’ Clubs at' the Waiwakaiho show grounds on Thursday was arranged at, the meeting of the club on Saturday., The order of judging was arranged as follows;— 10.45 am.: All pedigree breeds or breed types. 11 a.m.: All pedigree breeds on condition. * 11.30 a.m.: Best-mannered calves, all breeds. Noon: Lunch. 12.45 p.m.: Light breeds on type and heavy breeds on condition. 1.45 p.m.: Light breeds on condition and heavy breeds on type. 2.30 pm.: Grand parade of all calves, champions of all sections to lead the others. Officials were elected as follows: General supervisor, Mr. J. H. Allen; call steward, Mr. Duncan Mackay; reception committee, Messrs. A. E. Washer, J. M. Ferriday, D. Mackay, M. Goldsbury; official stewards, Messrs. R. W. D. Robertson, W. M. Dill-Macky; luncheon door steward, Mr. T. Wilson; confectionery stall, Mr. W. J. McNiven; catering, wives of the members of the executive, assisted by school girls; parade marshals, Messrs. R. W. D. Robertson (light breeds), A. E. Washer (heavy breeds), J t D. Pearce (pedigree Jerseys), W. K. Morris (pedigree Friesians and Ayrshires). It was decided to delete the cow judging competition. i ’ It was arranged that Messrs. Washer, Mackay and W. P. Okey should attend the breaking-up ceremony of the Oaonui school on Friday and present the prizes won in competitions conducted by the Boys and Girls’ Clubs, while Messrs. W. M. Dill-Macky and Washer will attend at Bell Block and Messrs. Mackay, Washer and Okey at Upper Mangorei. Those present were Messrs. A. E. Washer (chairman), H. Trimble, R. W. D. Robertson, Duncan Mackay, W. M. DillMacky, J. D. Pearce, I. V. Buchanan, J. M. Ferriday, T. Wilson.
