LAND AGENT BURNED
INDIAN RENT COLLECTOR’S END. ATTACK OF ANGRY VILLAGERS. . By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Calcutta, Nov. 29. An Indian land agent accompanied by two policemen went to collect the rents of the village of Salem, South India, when they were attacked by the angry villagers, who were armed with guns and hatchets.
The agent was burned alive in the centre of the village and one of the constables was killed.
