The seismograph at the Dominion Observatory recorded five earthquakes ybSterday with a NeW Zealand Origin following a long period Of quiescence. At 11.58 a.m. and again at 12.5 p.m. tremOrfe WerO recorded which at DatmCvifke WCre of a magnitude of 3 bn the Rossi-Forel SC At ’l2 and 11 o’clock there was a distinct shock, thO centre of which WAS 90 miles distant. This was felt St Dahnevirke as a magnitude Of 5, and at Palmerston North as a magnitude of 4. At 12.36 p.m. another tremor similar to the first was recorded. At 8.33 another distinct shock was felt, with its centre farther away, a distance bf 194 toiles, which would place it in Hawke’s Bay.
