EDUCATION OF MAORI

REALISING OF RESPONSIBILITIES,

NO STONES CAST AT NATIVES,

By Telegraph—Press -Association.

Gisborne, November 27.

The importance of educating the Maori to a better realisation of his responsibility, in association with efforts already made to rehabilitate the race, was emphasised by Mr. K. S. Williams, M.P., to-day, in discussing the report of the Native Affairs Commission.

He congratulated the commission on its report, and failed to see that stones had been cast at the Maoris by tire report or the speakers connected with the inquiry. While giving the greatest credit to Sir Apirana Ngata for what he had accomplished, Mr. Williams criticised him in that he should have realised the necessity of educating natives as to the great responsibility the handling of money entails.
