SUBSIDIES OPPOSED

UNECONOMIC AID SHIPPING.

SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRIES’ VIEW.

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 26.

The Norwegian, Danish, Netherlands and Swedish Governments have jointly issued a statement in favour of the abolition or limitation of uneconomic shipping subsidies. They agree with Britain that the restoration of equilibrium should first be undertaken by the shipowners concerned.

The four Governments are willing to co-operate with other Governments to restore shipping prosperity, and suggest a conference if rationalisation necessitates Government assistance.
