ITj.-! three chums looked rather sad because the last day of their holiday ha arrived. They were going for a last bathe—or rather Richard and Ted w , for Gwen was merely going with them for the sake of something to do. “I wish it was the first bathe instead of the last,” moaned Richard. “Please don’t mention it,” sighed Ted. ________
Their last morning was not to pass without adventure. It’s all right,” argued Gwen. -
Once in the water, Richard and Ted forgot that it was might have been their first, judging from thefun they got out ofit Ted turned smLrsaulto and showed Richard how to blow bubbles. Richard challenged Ted to all sorts of tricks. Really they had a glorious time.
But poor Richard and Ted were not allowed to enjoy their delightful swim without fifing happening to spoil their pleasure. Richard did not hesitate about what was to be done whten he had concluded that poor Gwen must be beneath the great pile of stones made by the fall of the roof. He simply flew for help, with Ted after him. “If we are quick, we may save her yet, he panted. “I do hope we shall,” said Ted. I expect it wifi be all right Cate have nine lives, you know. 4
picture will, of course, make it quite clear that Gwen was not buried the stones. She was far too restless to stay in the cave for long. In fact ebe didn’t even know what had happened. ' “What on earth is the matter with Ted and Richard?” she muttered, as she Watched them race off. She met the rescue party halfway. ... Richard and Ted felt rather stupid, but they didn’t mind when they discovered Gwen safe and sound.
