Miss E. F. M. A. Hooley is the guest of Mrs. James McLeod. Mrs. Griffin, Taumarunui, was a visitor here during the week. Mrs. Harper, Marton, has arrived to pay a visit to Mrs.' J. S. Church.
Miss N. Dempsey left by the express on Wednesday night on a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. Goffin, Napier, will be a visitor to New Plymouth for the week-end.
Mrs. H. F. Hall has been spending a holiday at the Chateau Tongariro. Mrs. G. Champion returned on Thursday from a short visit to Auckland.
Mrs. H. S. Weston was hostess at a bridge party at her home last night. Mrs. J. Houston, Hawera, paid a brief visit to New Plymouth during the week.
Mrs. L. A. Nolan entertained at a luncheon party at her home on Thursday.
Misses M. and A. Cholmeley were hostesses at a tea party on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. J. B. Austin has returned from a holiday of several weeks at Otane, Hawkes Bay.
Mrs. Russell Matthews left by car yesterday to spend a holiday at Hamilton.
Miss Mary Hine, who has been spending several weeks at Christchurch, returned on Thursday evening. Miss L. Harding, Marton, is visiting New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs. E. B. Ellerm.
Mrs. Nopl Rix-Prott has arrived from Marton to visit her mother, Mrs. E. Griffiths.
Mrs. G. E. Dinniss will leave by car to-morrow for a week’s holiday at Dannevirke.
Miss C. Kellar, Paeroa, who has been visiting New Plymouth, left yesterday on her return.
Mrs. R. Percival, Auckland, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. J. R. Cruickshank. Mrs. J. H. Stewart, Dunedin, is visiting New Plymouth and is staying at the Hotel. Imperial.
Lady Wilford expects to leave England on the 27th of this month for New Zealand and will spend several months in the Dominion.
Mrs. Walter Ambury, Auckland, is a visitor to New Plymouth and is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. P. E. Stainton. Mrs. H. Cowling, who has been visiting Wanganui for several weeks, returned to New Plymouth on Thursday.
JMiss A. Coventry arrived from Harnilton this week to spend a holiday as the guest of Mrs. A. Griffiths. Miss Gwen Champion, who has been studying at Auckland University College, returned to New Plymouth on Thursday for the vacation. Mrs. R. Duthie entertained her friends at a bridge party on Thursday evening. The prize was won by Miss Helen Atkinson.
Mrs. G. Marriner and Miss D. Martin, Auckland, who have been Mrs. G. E. Cartwright’s guests, left by car on Wednesday for Wanganui and Taupo. Mrs. O. Williams, Christchurch, who is on a motor tour of the North Island, visited New Plymouth during the week and was the guest of Mrs. T. Horrax. Miss J. A. Curtis, who has been visiting Miss Percy Smith, Havelock North, retained to New Plymouth by the express last night.
Mrs. C. Denny Brown returned on Thursday afternoon after a motor tour of the South Island. She was accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Constance Martin, Christchurch, who is now her guest.
Mrs. Kenneth Duncan, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. J. Ramson, will return to Hunterville to-day. Mrs. Ramson will accompany her and will be her guest for several weeks. Mesdames P. F. Atkinson and W. P. Okey and Misses K. Morey, R. Gentles and E. Crawshaw motored to Hawera on Thursday night for the Hawera Amateur Operatic Society's presentation of “The Firefly.” Visitors to the Hotel Imperial during the week have included Mrs. L. K. Andrews, Palmerston North; Mrs. Duthie, Dunedin; Miss M. Roberts, Wellington; Mrs. Williams, Auckland; Mrs. S. H. Deihl, Christchurch; and Mrs. W. B. Malcolmson, Feilding. Among the guests staying at the Criterion Hotel this week were Mrs. Douglas Walker, London; Miss G. R. Powles, Wellington; Mrs. F. S. Birch, Palmerston North; Mrs. J. G. L. Vernon, Christchurch; Mrs. W. Urquhart, Wellington; Mrs. A. M. Young and Mrs. Caselberg, Hawera; Mrs. B. Wilson and Mrs. Masefield, Auckland; Mrs. A. W. Curtis, Sydney; Mrs. N. Gummer, Wanganui.
