WEDDINGS

TAYLOR-HUNT. The wedding of Nancie Verna, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hunt, Baring Terrace, New Plymouth, and Basil Napier, youngest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. T. D. Taylor, Wellington, was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Fitzroy, on Tuesday. The Rev. J. D. Grocott officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of ivory satin beaute, cut on slim-fitting lines and flared from the knees. Her embroidered ivory veil was worn far back on her head, with clusters of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of ivory and pale pink roses. Her sister, Miss Thelma Hunt, was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of applegreen dimity voile, cut on simple lines and flared from the knees. She wore a bandeau of apple-green and primrose blossoms and carried a bouquet of roses. Beth Hunt, niece of the bride, as a little flower girl, was dressed in anklelength primrose dimity voile and carried a Victorian posy. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Athol Taylor, of Wellington. The church had been very tastefully decorated by Mrs. Knuckey and other friends of the bride.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Mon Desir, where the tables were decorated in tones of green and primrose to match the frocks and bouquets. The bride’s parents received the guests, Mrs. Hunt wearing a frock of black and white uncrushable crepe de chine and hat to match. She earned a bouquet of apricot roses. Mr. and Mrs. B. N. Taylor left by car for the north. The latter wore a smart peacock blue uncrushable crepe ensemble suit, trimmed with scarlet buttons, a blue hat to tone and grey accessories. They will make their home at Hawera. GARDNER-CLEAVER The marriage took place at St. Mary’s Church, Hawera, on November 14 of Hazel Annie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Cleaver, Skeet Road, Matapu, to William Harold, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. H. Gardner, Kaponga. The Rev. A. J. Farnell performed the ceremony. The bride entered the church with her. father. She wore a frock of elephant crepe satin with sleeves of angel skin lace. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses, fragrantissima and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Zena Cleaver, who was attired in green floral ninon and carried a bouquet of pink roses. .The bridegroom was attended by Mr. W. Thoumine as best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Carlton, where nearly 100 guests were present Mrs. Cleaver, who received the guests, wore a frock of black and white celanese with hat to match and carried a posy of autumn tints. The bridegroom’s mother wore a blue wind-swept ensemble trimmed with mushroom pink, and a hat to match’. Her posy was of scarlet and pink. There were also present Mrs. C. Cleaver, grandmother of the bride, wearing black satin, and Mrs. Gardner, senr., grandmother of the bridegroom, wearing navy blue crepe de chine, both carrying posies to tone. The bride’s bouquet was made by Mrs. W. C. Davies, Kaponga, and the bridesmaid’s bouquet by Mrs. W. McL’Dowie, Matapu. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner left for the south, the bride wearing a black tailored costume, with black and white shoes, gloves and hat to match. Their future home will be at Riverlea.
