UPPER MANGOREI

GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. At the Upper Mangorei hall on Wednesday night a crowd attended a festival arranged by the Women’s Institute. The majority danced to music supplied by the Maori string band, an extra being played by Mr. W. Ashman. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs. B. Balsom and J. Sheppard. Novelty dances were won by Mts. M. Tweedale and Mr. L. Roberts, and Mrs. C. Balsom and Mr. B. Trilford. Eight tables were engaged in euchre, the winners being Mrs. G. Walker, Miss B. Petch, Mr. H. Wallath and Mr. O. Balsom. A stall of handwork and produce was arranged across one corner of the hall. Competitions for a Christmas cake and duchess set were won by Miss E. Jamieson and Miss B. Fetch. The financial result was very satisfactory. The committee comprised Mesdames R. Balsom, West and Christmas.

Miss N. Wallath has hpen staying with her brother, Mr. H. Wallath.
