LOWER MANGOREI

TENNIS CLUB OPENING. The Lower Mangorei Tennis Club was fortunate in weather conditions for tire opening of its playing season last Saturday. Owing to the illness of the patron, Mr. C. H. Burgess, the opening address was given by the president, Mr. G. Bennett. Mrs. Bennett served the first ball. A Yankee tournament was won by Mrs. P. Morris and Mrs. Hawkings, who won all eight sets. Afternoon tea was dispensed to about 50 guests. The dance in the evening was one of the most successful held at the school.

Novelty dances were wc.i by Mr. J. Dryden and Miss. E- Morris, and Mrs. Ross and partner. Mrs. E. Hale, Stratford, was a visitor for the tennis season’s opening. Miss. Ambury is staying with Miss Puroel, Mrs. Wijliamson is visiting Mrs. «, C. Staples, Mrs. Farrow, Palmerston North, ft* spending.a- holiday with .Mrs. Hancock.
