HUNDREDS DEAD IN PHILIPPINES.

FRAGMENTARY REPORTS COME IN.

As fragmentary reports continue to come from the insular provinces it is estimated that between 200 and 300 were killed by a typhoon which swept the Philippine Islands in the middle of the week. Forty-one; bodies have been recovered from Luzon Island, on which Manila is situated.

No definite estimate nan be made as there are many islands’from which no communications have yet been received. About 200 are believed to be dead in Tayabas province, where many were washed out to sea.
