WAITARA BRIDGE ACCIDENT.

MAORI CHILD SEVERELY INJURED.

Darting out unexpectedly from behind the parapet on the Waitara bridge on Saturday afternoon, a young- -Maori girl, Kipi Manu, was .knocked down by a service car driven - by Mr. A.. MiscalL She received a fractured left hip and a broken jaw and was removed, after receiving medical attention, to the New Plymouth hospital. . Tn company with another child, Kipi Manu passed along the pedestrian, walk on the northern side, and it is suggested ran across towards the southern side. The driver evaded one of the children but was unable to stop his car before the second was knocked down. The child was reported to be in a satisfactory condition last night.
