SHOT WITH OWN GUNS
SCENE AT THE DARDANELLES. BRITISH ARMAMENTS ATTITUDE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 13. “I shall never' forget that immediately after the war I visited the Dardanelles and saw broken and discarded Turkish guns pointing towards the shore on which our men hung so long by their eyebrows. On those guns was a brass label bearing the name of a British armament firm,” said Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, during a speech at Southampton. “Nevertheless, no practical politician would countenance State munition factories,” he said. “All know the dangers, including the unsavoury competition of private armament firms. I think the best remedy is the adoption by other countries of the British licensing system.”
