WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
Kolii: There was a full attendance at the November meeting of the Kohi Women’s Institute. The date was arranged to coincide with the visit of Mrs. R. Kelso, Dominion organiser. A bouquet made by Mrs. Guy Campbell was presented to Mrs. Kelso. Mrs. Mountfort gave a descriptive report of the halfyearly council meeting held at Hunterville. Mrs. Kelso also spoke. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Rourke, Miss Powell and Miss Waterland, Mrs. T. Gulliver giving a recitation. A competition for a dress limited in price to 5s for materials resulted in a number of entries, Mrs. C. Oliver being awarded first prize and Mrs. M. Hill second. The hostesses were Mesdames Morrison and Waterland.
Kaimata: Mrs. G. Gibbins presided over the monthly meeting of the institute on Tuesday afternoon. There was a fair attendance. Mrs. H. Egarr, Tariki, gave an instructive display of bouquet and wreath-making. Two competitions were judged by Mrs. Egarr and resulted:. Silver tinsel pictures, Miss Noeleen Stieller 1. Mrs. L. Dobson 2; pikelets, Mrs. L. Dobson 1, Mrs. A. Laurence 2. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. A. Laurence and Mrs. L. Dobson, hostesses for the day.
