Little is known, of its earlier history, but the. vessel was bought in Australia in 1907 by the Westport Coal Company for conversion into a coal hulk, for use at Westport. A certificate was granted by th© Navi.gation Department at. Sydney allowing the ship to make one trip to New Zealand with a cargo of 220 tons. It was held up at Newcastle for minor repairs, but made the voyage safely. For some time, the hulk has. lain at Queen’s Wharf, ■where it was partly dismantled..
