Night Coincident with the Government’s plans for laying' out emergency landing grounds for aeroplanes in both islands is a scheme for further development of the two principal aerodromes— Wigram (Christchurch) and Hobsonville (Auckland). _ The Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G 1 Cobbe) stated to-night .that a tender had been let for the construction of ten six-roomed cottages at the Hobsonville base for married airmen. The work of constructing the. new hangar at Wigram would be commenced immediately. The building had been designed to house mainly the Vildebeeste bombing planes to arrive in New Zealand in February.
