BLASTING ACCIDENT

LABOURER SERIOUSLY INJURED. EXPLOSION NEAR TAUMARUNUI. (By Wire—Special to News.) Taumarunui, Last Night. When using blasting material on Mr. J. Penny’s farm at Tokirima late last night Douglas Price, a labourer, met with a serious accident when the charge went off. Mr. Price suffered shock, serious injuries to his right hand and minor injuries to his chest. He was later admitted to the Taumaranui Hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate the hand. He. was progressing satisfactorily this morning.
