ONLY SCATTERED SHOWERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Some scattered and light rains north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura are predicted, but the weather is expected to improve there to-morrow. Elsewhere the weather will be fair to moderate temperatures. Light to moderate but freshening northerly winds over the southern half of the South Island are predicted. Elsewhere winds will be variable with southerlies to south-east winds predominating. Seas in New Zealand waters will, be smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman easterly to northerly winds are likely, later freshening in the Western portion, with smooth to moderate seas.

The pressure is generally high over and around New Zealand, but is rather lower over the Cook Strait area than elsewhere. A deep depression is centred near Tasmania.
