On a recent evening a motorist who was driving along an Invercargill street received a sudden shock when his windscreen was shattered and a large piece of glass struck him on the shoulder, states the Southland News. There was no traffic on the roadway at the time and as the motorist passed the intersection of Ettrick Street he heard a noise like the hum of a bullet and a missile hit the windscreen a glancing blow and appeared to ricochet. The driver had a narrow escape and it was a much perturbed man who recognised that the dangers of motoring do not always lie in crowded thoroughfares.
