Victoria scored 58 points and New Zealand 29. The most thrilling race was the mile, in which New Zealanders were first and second. The Empire Games broad jump champion, Richardson (Canada) was defeated by Letcher (Victoria) after a dead-heat. Tire track was heavy. The results are;— Weight putting: Wares (Canada) 1, Steele (Victoria) 2, Coxhead (New Zealand) 3. Distance 46ft lOJin (a record). 100 yards: MacPhee (Canada) 1, Zizis (Canada) 2, Gill (Victoria) 3. Bate (Victoria), Bickerstaff (New Zealand) and Steel (New Zealand) were next. Time, 10 l-ss. Half mile: Brosnan (Victoria) 1, Pearce (Victoria) 2, Ferris (Canada) 3. Mitchell (Canada), Watt and Wordsworth (New Zealand) were next. Time 2m 3 7-10 s. High jump: Hansen (Canada) and Evans (Victoria) 2. Height sft llfin. Jansen won the jump off. Richardson (Canada) was third, and Watt (Victoria) and Steele and Coxhead (New Zealand) were next. 220 yards: MacPhee (Canada) 1, McFarlane (Victoria) 2, Savage (Canada) 3. Letcher (Victoria), Bickerstaff and Wilson (New Zealand) were next Time, 22 9-10 s. 120 yards hurdles: Loaring (Canada) 1, Lander (Victoria) 2, Zizis (Canada) 3. Warhust (Victoria) and Bickerstaff were next. Time, 16s. 440 yards: Limon (Canada) 1, Sayers (New Zealand) 2, Fleming (Canada) 3, Clarke (New Zealand) was next. Time, 51 9-10 s. Long jump: Letcher (Victoria) 1, Richardson (Canada) 2, Lapin (Victoria) 3. Jansen (Canada) and Steele (New Zealand) were next. Distance 22ft sin (a record). One mile: McLauchlan (New Zealand) 1, Watt (New Zealand) 2, Pearce (Victoria) 3.
