BIBLE CLASS PARTY
ST. JOHN’S ENTERTAINMENT. MILLINERY BY THE MEN. To augment the funds of the St. John’s Presbyterian Bible Class a Christmas party was held in the church hall, Hawera, on Tuesday, and was a splendid success. Praise is due to the organiser, Miss D. Corrigan, for her efforts. , . The programme included carol singing, games, musical and orchestral items, charades and a sketch. The audience wore coloured paper hats, which gave a carnival effect to the party, while the distribution of supper in bon-bons gave a novel touch to the proceedings. A humorous item was the trimming of women’s hats by eight men. Though their efforts in millinery decoration were novel, they would not have a ready sale. Distribution parcels from a Christmas tree also caused amusement. Solo items on the concert portion of the programme were rendered by Miss Mary Smith and Miss G. Reynolds, while those who participated in a humorous sketch, “The Family Group,” were Misses Jean Easton, Loma Campbell, Jean Fyfe, Margaret Lamb and Messrs. B. Clapham and R. Lloyd. Mr. and Mrs. A. Bonetti’s orchestra gave items.
